Infighting over Kendra Sahitya Academy Award: Chandrasekhar Rath vs Bibhuti Patnnaik

Following report is from the Sambad:

Such favoritisms are very common in India.  However, from this write-up, it seems the arguments by Chandrasekhar Rath look absurd. I do not buy his argument that creations of only famous and well established people should get theKendraSahityaAcademy award. If that is the case what will happen to the creations of newcomers. Does Chandrasekhar babu think that the newcomers of Odia literature should go and fly kites?

I do not know the detail of this debate. But looks like, it is an old vs newcomer debate. Standard of Odia literature is declining. Sad, but true!

Best regards,

Sanjib

I agree with the last sentence and am concerned with the pitiable state of affairs of creative writing in odia and the people who do it. Odia is a regional language with limited writers and even limited readers who are neither articulate nor reactive to any such forum of discussion.Field of literature is always open to both young and old but whether any value is added or whether the product is of world class needs the test of time, the fittest shall survive in the long run, not all; irrespective of anyone saying anything for that matter.

I agree to you Sir. I think Mr Chandrasekhar is the league of apprehensive old age tendency to creative younger generation. Creativity knows no age. It is god driven and god is with us always.
