Following report is from the Pioneer:

Around 500 hectares of agriculture land on the bank of river Mahanadi at Athamallik of Angul district has been completely submerged in flood water. The paddy crop from Kiakata to Duruha on the river bank has been damaged.

Particularly the farmers of Naagaon, Aeda, Luhasinga and Jamodoli have been greatly affected due to the flood. There was heavy loss due to drought in the entire area except the land at the river bank. Now the flood water has damaged there entire crop.

While there is no irrigation facility in the drought–hit Athamallik sub-division, the river bank is also not protected, for which farmers are suffering both the ways. The flood water has damaged the Madhapur-Athamallik road. Now there is no connectivity for the people of about 40 villages. The bus services have been stopped in this road
