Sambalpur University wins prize for Odia panel discussion

Following is a report from The Pioneer:

While the group from Ravenshaw University topped in the Odia panel discussion, the group from Utkal University topped in English in the final round of the Second Inter-University Panel Discussion competition held in OUAT’s MS Swaminathan auditorium here on Wednesday.

The runners-up in Odia were Utkal University and Fakir Mohan University stood third while in English the runners-up was Ravenshaw University and BPUT group third. Consolation prizes were bagged by Sambalpur University in Odia and OUAT in English.

The cup winners received Rs 5,000 as cash prize while the runners-up received Rs 3,500, the third position holders Rs 2,500 and the consolation prizes carried a cash prize of Rs 500.

The final round was held in the very presence of the Governor-cum-Chancellor MC Bhandare who was so involved in the debate that he delayed his scheduled programmes by more than one hour and waited till the results were announced and gave away the cups and cash prizes.

In his address, Bhandare appreciated the debating abilities of the students and said that in the next twenty years, India is destined to be among the top-three nations and this would be possible only due to the youths’ power and imagination, a Press release stated.
