After the demand for a separate Telengana state, Koshal Kranti Dal (KKD) has threatened to launch a series of agitations across western Orissa to put forth the demand for formation of separate Koshal state.

Addressing media persons here yesterday, president of Central Committee of KKD, Pramod Mishra said the Dal would begin the series of protests with demonstrations in all the district headquarters across the region on December 17 which will be followed by mass protests in front of Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on December 23.

They have also threatened to stage a rail roko at Sambalpur, Balangir, Rourkela, Jharsuguda and Bargarh in the first week of January while western Orissa bandh call will be given in last week of the same month and in February a series of national highway blockades will be held across the region to intensify the stir, he said.

Elaborating the role of Osmania University in the Telengana issue, he revealed that students’ union of Sambalpur University led by its president Padmanav Mishra have extended support to the Koshal Movement and students would boycott classes demanding formation of separate state.

Mishra also said they would enter into a dialogue with all the organisations fighting for a separate Koshal state to forward the movement jointly, besides the KKD would also request all the bar associations and farmers’ bodies of the region to join.

Explaining the demand for separate Koshal state as genuine, Mishra informed that a team of the Dal would also meet the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Union Home Minster to apprise their demand and submit memorandum to them.

He urged all the MPs and MLAs to make a resolution and raise the issue in respective houses to make the process for formation of separate state smooth.

Moreover, Mishra asked both the Congress and BJP to make their stand on formation of Koshal state clear as they have started supporting formation of new states in other parts of the country and requested other parties including BSP, NCP, CPI and CPM to support the movement.
